TWENTY YEARS IS JUST BUT A FIFTH OF A CENTURY. IF WE ARE UNHAPPY IT SEEMS LIKE A VERY LONG TIME. BUT FOR ME, NOT SO. I HAVE BEEN SO HAPPY AND CONTENT WITH MY NEW FOUND FAMILY AND FRIENDS. AT HOLY CROSS THAT IT ONLY SEEMS LIKE YESTERDAY. I HAVE BEEN VERY FORTUNATE TO HAVE MET THE MOST WONDERFUL AND GRACIOUS PEOPLE FROM ALL OF OUR U.S.A. THERE ARE SO MANY STATES OF THIS GREAT COUNTRY REPRESENTED AT HOLY CROSS THAT IT MAKES ME FEEL LIKE WE HAVE THE BEST OF THEM ALL KNITTED INTO A VERY BEAUTIFUL STRONG FAMILY. SOME COME, SOME GO BUT WE STILL HAVE QUITE A FEW FROM THE VERY FIRST WHEN WE WERE JUST A MISSION WITHOUT A NAME OR AN ASSIGNED PRIEST TO REPRESENT US. YES, INDEED, WE HAVE WHAT WE HAVE TODAY, THE BEST THAT COULD EVER HAPPEN TO KERNERSVILLE, HOLY CROSS CATHOLIC CHURCH .

I MET AT THE BEGINNING WHEN I FIRST CAME HERE A LOT OF PEOPLE THAT D!DN'T KNOW WHAT A CATHOLIC MEANT OR EVEN WAS. THERE WAS A  LOT OF MYTH ABOUT OUR RELIGION. NOW, THOSE SAME PEOPLE TELL ME HOW GREAT IT HAS BEEN THAT WE WERE HERE ANO HOW MUCH WE HAVE DONE FOR THE TOWN AND ITS PEOPLE.

IN ALL MY LIFE I HAVE ONLY BELONGED T0 THREE PARISHES. MY FIRST TWO HAD THE SAME NAME: ST. ROSE OF L!MA . I WAS BORN, RAISED, MARRIED, AND RAISED A FAMILY OF FOUR CHILDREN THROUGH 8APTISM, FIRST COMMUNION, CONFIRMATION ANO MARRIAGE AT ST. ROSE OF LIMA IN NEW YORK. MY THIRD PARISH. AFTER SIXTY-FIVE YEARS, IS HOLY CROSS. FOR THIS I THANK GOD AND ALL THE PEOPLE OF HOLY CROSS FOR I HAVE BEEN VERY HAPPV HERE.

3EFORE I FINISH, I WANT TO SAY THAT WE HAD BEEN BLESSED WITH FR.  LEON BOLICH FOR UNDER HIM WE HAD A GREAT START, FR. HARRY MCGOVERN WHO WORKED SO HARD TO CONTINUE THE LABOR OF LOVE THAT HAD BEEN STARTED AND THEN THE ONE WHO HAS BEEN WITH US THE LONGEST AND WE LOVE SO WELL, FR. TOM.

GOO BLESS THEM ALL AND LET'S HAVE TWENTY MORE YEARS IN UNITY AND LOVE. IT'S BEEN GREAT TO HAVE BESN PART OF SO GREAT AN ENDEAVOR. THANK YOU LORD.
