It is a blessing to wait on the Table of the Lord as an Altar Server. Holy Cross has sixty-four trained Altar Servers, who gather socially at least twice a year to get to know one another. All young men and women who have received their First Holy Communion and are willing to commit to serving for a month at a time are welcome to join this ministry. Training for new Altar Servers in conducted several times during the year with announcements of the training session published in the church bulletin. If you are interested in becoming an Altar Server, please contact Michelle Herzberger at 336-430-7241.

Lectors proclaim the Word of God during Mass through the readings from the Sacred Scriptures. Jesus is present in His word, since it is He Himself who speaks when the Holy Scriptures are read in the church. Lectors must attend one training session, be Confirmed in the Catholic Church and be willing to contact a substitute if unable to attend the assigned Mass. There are 50 English speaking Lectors who serve the parish. If you are willing to dedicate your time to one weekend Mass for one or two months a year, please contact Maureen Pileggi at 336-978-4988.
Recognizing the need to fully participate in the Divine Liturgy and other Sacramental Celebrations, the Choirs of Holy Cross Catholic Church seek to encourage our faith community to praise, worship and petition God in their joyous lifting of voices in song. All of our parish choirs welcome new voices and musicians to join them.
The Sacristans prepare the environment for worship prior to each Mass and serve as coordinators for all other liturgical ministers during the Eucharistic Celebration. There are eighteen Sacristans who serve an average of eight hundred and fifteen families each weekend at Holy Cross. If you are a practicing Catholic, 16 years or older (younger at the discretion of the pastor), responsible and reliable, male or female and are interested in assisting as a Sacristan, please contact the Parish Office.
The Ushers are liturgical ministers who distribute materials, help with seating, take up the Offertory collections, and assist with order at Communion. By their ministry of hospitality, Ushers are in the forefront in setting the tone of the parish to newcomers. There are one hundred seventy-two Ushers serving the Faith Community at Holy Cross. If you are sixteen years old or older (or younger at the discretion of the pastor), responsible and willing to commit to a month of service at a weekend Mass, and you would like more information about training as an Usher, please contact the Parish Office.
