The cemetery is open to friends and family from 8:00 AM to dusk every day of the year.


ELIGIBILITY

Columbarium

  • Members of the Holy Cross Catholic Parish in Kernersville, additionally...
  • their spouses, children, parents, stepchildren, and stepparents.
  • Priests who have served in our Church and their parents.
  • Friends or former members of the Church with prior approval of the Cemetery/Columbarium Committee and the Pastor.


Cemetery

  • Anyone who is eligible for burial in the columbarium
  • Member of a church in the Diocese of Charlotte with a letter of good standing from their Pastor. 

REGULATIONS

Activities within the cemetery/columbarium are regulated to ensure the preservation of its sacred nature, uniformity of appearance, consistency of operation, and standards for expected behavior. The following are notable regulations:


  • Columbarium niches are built to accommodate our cylindrical inserts which must be used for remains.  Outside urns are not allowed.
  • We do not provide vaults, caskets or markers for our cemetery plots
  • The current cost of etching the niche nameplates are passed along to the owner at the time of inurnment. (niches purchased before 1/1/23 are exempt)
  • Natural flowers will be removed and discarded when they begin to deteriorate.
  • No additional decorations beyond the grave marker are allowed.
  • No vases are allowed EXCEPT permanent vases purchased as part of the grave maker or as are part of the Columbarium sections.
  • American flags are permitted on holidays but must be removed after a few days.
  • There are no decorations, artificial flowers, plantings, roping, curbing, fencing, hedging, borders, or enclosures allowed;  any present will be removed.
  • No pets are allowed in the cemetery.

FUTURE PLANNING

The Holy Cross Catholic Cemetery is a place of peaceful contemplation and remembrance for our faithful departed. We have completed the first phase of cemetery. The cemetery in its entirety is anticipated to be finished once three additional phases have been completed. We are currently in the first phase.
