HOLY CROSS CHILD DEVELOPMENT CENTER BEGAN IN 1980 AS A MOTHER'S

CO-OP WI'TH APPROXIMATELY 10 MOTHERS AND THEIR LITTLE ONES.

 

IN 1981 WE BEGAN A MOTHER'S MORNING OUT PROGRAM AND ALSO WATCHED CHILDREN FOR THE "NEW-COMERS" GROUP SEVERAL TIMES A MONTH. A 2 DAY AND 3 DAY PLAYSCHOOL WERE ALSO ESTABLISHED DURING 1981   UNDER THE DIRCTION OF FR. HARRY MCGOVERN, LINDA CODY, CYNTHIA HATCH. MARCI A POTTER AND NANCY COTHRAN.

 

IN 1983 THE NAME "HOLY CROSS CHILD DEVELOPMENT CENTER" WAS FOUNDED AND WE OPENED THE DOORS AS A NEW DAYCARE CENTER ALONG WITH OUR GROWING PLAYSCHOOL AND MOTHER'S MORNING OUT. WE HAD ONE FUL-TIME EMPLOYEE, ONE COOK AND SEVERAL PART-TIME TEACHERS TEACHING APPROXIMATELY 12 DAYCARE CHILDREN ANO 90 PLAYSCHOOLERS, ALSO UNDER THE DIRECTION OF FR. HARRY AND THE SAME STAFF.

 

WITHIN 3 YEARS THE PLAYSCHOOL BUILDING WAS RENOVATED AND IS THE PRESENT BUILDING BEING USED TODAY.

 

THE CENTER HAS SEEN MUCH GROWTH SINCE IT OPENED ITS DOORS 13 YEARS AGO. THE CENTER NOW HAS APPROXIMATELY 75 CHILDREN IN DAY CARE. 15 IN THE BEFORE AND AFTER SCHOOL CARE AND 75 IN PLAYSCHOOL. THERE ARE 22 EMPLOYEES AT THE CENTER TODAY UNDER THE DIRECTION OF GINNY BEILES AND HER ASSISTANT FRAN PETTICORD.
